Keeping a conversation going:

  • Apparently,…
  • I’ve heard … - is that true?
  • In fact…
  • So…
  • Don’t you…?
  • What do you mean?
  • Why …? (e.g.: Why did that happen? Why do you think so?)
  • How …? (e.g.: How did you like it? How was it?)
  • Interesting! Tell me more.
  • What happened next?
  • What did you like about it / What didn’t you like about it?

Ending a conversation:

  • See you later.
  • It’s been nice talking to you.
  • Look, I have to go. Catch up later.
  • You don’t mind if I go and get myself (a coffee)?
  • Sorry, I gotta go!
  • I need to leave for my next…
  • It's getting late.
  • See you around.
  • See you soon.
  • Great meeting you!
